This page shows bulls that have been important in our herd development.
Bannerlane Ribstone STD 42P
When I saw 42P calves at JoNomn Hereford Ranch I thought they were about as good as I've seen and bought a semen interest. He is one of the few bulls that gives the growth, meat and conformation we need. With 37L, 254E, 85A and 87D all showing in his three generation pedigree it is no surprise 42P is this good.
FA 121M Britisher 252T
6.1 56 97 23 0.9 0.49
The 121M son Darryl Anderson kept to replace his sire.
FA 121M Britisher 245T
3.7 43 75 26 0.9 0.29
A 121M son with low birth and high milk. Pictured at Floyd Anderson Family Herefords with the Canadian Rockies in the background. He is a 3/4 brother to 224S.
FA 121M BRITISHER 224S
3.2 44 79 21 43 1.0 -0.006 0.46 -0.09
Purchased in 2009 at JoNomn Hereford Ranch, 224S attracted bidders from the US, Canada, Europe and Australia. Luckily we collected a good bank of semen from 224S because he was struck by lighting in June of 2010. We have had a number of calves out of him beginning in October 2010. If you like growth, milk and meat in an attractive package-we have stacked the generations and 224S is a big part of that package.
MH Patriot 3159
6.5 46 81 32 55 0.0 0.006 0.63 -0.07
One of the most proven bulls of the breed. We have primarily used 3159 on 9A daughters. That cross produced the 2002 Denver champion female for Mrnak, who went on to be the mother of MH Monument 3147. If you look at the Drenon closeout on the Sale Bull page, most of those steers were sired by sons of 3159 and 9A grandmothers.
C Mark Donald 918
918 is a double bred C Mark Donald 505 grandson. 918 does a great job of adding performance with doability and muscling. There are at least a dozen crosses of DH Beau Mark 326 in 918's pedigree.
FA Britisher 42M
A Floyd Anderson bred bull owned by XTC Hereford Ranch in Alberta. 42M contributes moderate birth weight with the performance and body type you expect from the top Canadian genetics his sire and dam represent. We have a good semen bank and use him on yearling heifers as well as cows. Several of our 2010 fall calves are by 42M.
LT Standard Lad 41X ET
41X combines the 9A Canadian genetics with the Mark Donald 735 cow. Lots of growth and mass. We have about a dozen full sisters to 41X in the herd. When those females are mated to 238Y, the results are as good as anything you could find.
Owned with Strojan Herefords, Farmington, CA.
Standard Lad 14Z
14Z came from Ken Beatch in Saskatchewan along with 30 cows. After a year in Missouri he went on to Ochs Brothers in Colorado. 14Z weighed 2865 pounds in February on Missouri fescue and no grain. The best rear end we have ever seen on a bull- 31" from hooks to pins. For those of you familiar with Hereford pedigrees, that is 7" longer than the King Ten bull.
Semen is available.
KGB Standard Lad 4F
Bred in Saskatchewan, born & raised on Missouri fescue. 2985 lbs. at 9 years of age. Son of 14Z, paternal grandson of SKB Duracell 30X. Maternal grandson of MA Britisher 69X-who stood 69". The 4F sons have great performance with style.
C Mark Donald 505
These pictures show 505 at 14 years old. He had the best feet and legs I've seen. We were unsuccessful freezing semen but are using several daughters and grandsons. Pictures taken in West Texas, five miles from the New Mexico border.
C Beau Donald 727
We are constantly searching for ways to improve our herd. On a bull searching trip in 2008, we were lucky enough to stop by Connor Herefords in West Texas. Syd had maintained what I believe is the last old-line Mark Donald herd in the U.S. After seeing lots of pampered cowherds, it was like a breath of fresh air to see a real cattleman raising good cattle in a harsh environment. We bought 727, a herd bull Syd had raised. 727 weaned at 808 lbs. at 8 months (no creep) and went to a University gain test where he gained over 5 lbs. a day on less than 5lbs. of feed/lbs gain. 727 and 505 are proof that a good cowman is better than all the EPD's in the world.
A 505 grandson.
JHR 177D Standard Lad 59J
59J is a straight Canadian bull owned with Langford Herefords, Oklahoma and Perks Ranch, Illinois. A smaller framed bull, but his calves are very well made with great testicles. His daughters milk well with very nice udders.
As you can see, we keep several semen tanks on hand. We built a special concrete room to protect the genetics "in the tank."
